Instagrammers have all experienced the moment when the eye spies the perfect background for a cute post. As I try to improve my Instagram content, I have been brainstorming places to take the perfect shots. So, here is a list of some of my favourite locations for all of my photo-loving pals who need some inspo.
- Dundurn Castle
610 York Blvd
Dundurn Castle has a variety of backgrounds like huge wooden doors, archways, columns and luscious gardens. You can spend hours playing with the angles!
2. Hello Baked
342 Barton St E
I would not be surprised in the slightest if you recognize this iconic pastel pink brick wall. A hotspot for Instagrammers, this Hello Baked mural draws people in from all over with its elegant appeal. It’s also right across from Motel which makes it the perfect spot to show off your brunch outfit!
3. Antique Detective
187 Ottawa St North
So I haven’t had the pleasure of visiting this spot yet but recently the mural popped up on my feed and I am in love with the pastel explosion of colour. There’s also a super cool section of the mural that includes a rainbow checkered wall which gives you the option of either background.
4. Gage Park Tropical Green House
An important thing to note about the Gage Park Greenhouse is that you cannot bring a professional photographer or camera without a permit. Luckily, phone photos are totally allowed! If you are a travel blogger who hasn’t been able to travel due to COVID, I highly recommend the greenhouse for all your vacation photo needs.
6. Motel
If you’re a true Hamiltonian you’ve probably heard of or seen a photo from Motel. Whenever I’m there I always take advantage of the cute themed interior by taking a few photos. Whether or not you’re dining in the lobby or on the patio, this no-tell motel is sure to charm your followers.
7. Redchurch Cafe
Victoria Hall, 68 King St E
As we drift into fall weather there is no cozier spot than a cute cafe and Redchurch has everything you need for that perfect picture aesthetic. Pose by their iconic neon pink sign or with your autumnal latte in hand.
8. Municipal Parking Lot Behind Mulberry
10-20 Mulberry St
Lesser known but still just as photo-worthy, this parking lot is packed full of fresh graffiti art! There are multiple walls filled with colour and even an alleyway that will lead you directly to James St. North. Both the alleyway and parking lot are full of vibrancy and get great sun!
9. Lea Wood Co.
318 James St N
I am getting creative with these spots, okay?! This custom furniture store features a sunny yellow brick building complete with teal detailing. I never knew this building existed until walking all the way down James but I love how happy this background is and it almost transports you to a tropical location.
10. Electric Diner
96 George St
80’s diner realness! No surprise that Electric Diner has sparked traction with their cool retro decor and Instagram presence. Check out their upstairs dining room, stacked tropical bar, or string light patio. They also have an extensive brunch and dinner menu full of Instagram-able drinks and treats!
